Cabbage with Bacon

Ingredients:

  • Green cabbage
  • Bacon
  • Onion (optional)
  • Garlic (optional)
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil or butter

Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Start by chopping the cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Dice the bacon into small chunks. If you’re using onion and garlic, finely chop them as well.
  2. Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it becomes crispy. Once done, remove the bacon and set it aside, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables: Add a little olive oil or butter to the skillet if needed, and then sauté the onions and garlic until they become translucent and fragrant. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring occasionally.
  4. Combine and Season: Once the cabbage has softened and started to caramelize, add the crispy bacon back into the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue to cook for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Serve: Transfer the sautéed cabbage and bacon to a serving dish and enjoy it as a side or even as a main course.
