Ingredients
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 4-6 strips of bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, sliced (optional)
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
Instructions
- Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
- Sauté Onions: If using, add the sliced onion to the skillet and sauté in the bacon grease until softened.
- Add Cabbage: Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. If needed, add a little olive oil to help it cook. Stir well to coat with the bacon grease.
- Cook Until Tender: Cook the cabbage for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it’s tender and slightly caramelized.
- Add Garlic: If using garlic, add it in the last few minutes of cooking to prevent burning.
- Season: Stir in the cooked bacon, and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
- Serve: Enjoy it warm as a side dish!
